What does Whiplash Feel Like?

Trying to answer the question, “what does whiplash feel like” is similar to answering the question, “what does a Unicorn sound like?”  Whiplash is an injury that you can’t diagnose by looking at an X-Ray or an ultrasound, but is instead something that is felt in your soft tissue.  This makes it hard for doctors and chiropractors to diagnose and treat whiplash because it is not easy to see.  So, then, what does whiplash feel like?  Depends on who you are and what happened to you.

Everyone feels whiplash in a different way and struggles with its effects with different types of treatment.  Your chiropractor may just tell you to take it easy for a few days to let your body heal itself, or he may give you a treatment plan.  This plan could include massages or attempting to adjust your spine or vertebrae by hand, meaning you are not cured but you are better.  Depending on your situation your chiropractor may give you a few different plans of attack.

Returning to the original question of “what does whiplash feel like?” the answer can be given in two parts.  First, you must understand that whiplash doesn’t only happen to people who have been in high velocity car accidents.  Instead, you could have been in a low-impact collision, you could have been on a particularly rough roller coaster, or may have been injured in a sports-related manner.  Regardless, you shouldn’t try to rule out whiplash on your own, let a professional handle that.

Second, after your accident or incident has occurred it will not be the same feelings for everybody suffering from whiplash.  Most people associate whiplash with neck and back injuries, but you could also have dizziness and headaches or blurred vision as a result.  Don’t succumb to the idea of whiplash being an impossible injury only reported by scam artists, it can happen to anyone and it happens every day.

Finally, to wrap up the answer to what whiplash feels like you must know that whiplash can manifest itself in many different ways.  Don’t jump to the conclusion that you have whiplash, but don’t rule it out either until you speak to a doctor or chiropractor.  Let the professionals do the work and just try to get the treatment and attention you need to overcome your issues.
